    New Year's Day Snowshoeing Loree Forest

    Description

    Starting on the unopened road allowance, this snowshoe hike will use the Len Gertler Side Trail and then the main trail through Loree Forest.  Please read the participant guidelines below.

    Participant Guidelines

    1. All kms mentioned are according to maps in Edition 29 of The Bruce Trail Reference.
    2. Please arrive 15 minutes before start of hike.
    3. Participants are expected to wear appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain. In summer, sturdy footwear is necessary. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate. It is a good idea to bring these items if there is snow on the ground and the hike leader will advise you as to the best footwear for the day. Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    4. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
    5. Bring sufficient water and snacks (or lunch if indicated).
    6. For spring and summer hikes bring sunscreen and insect repellent.
    7. Please leave dogs at home.
    8. Pace: Leisurely = 3km/hr or less, Medium = 3-4 km/hr, Brisk = 4-5 km/hr, Fast = 5+km/hr

    Snowshoeing with Stella - Kolapore

    Description

    We will walk to the start of the outing at km 23.8  for a round trip, in and back.  Snowshoe through old cedar groves, meadows and woodlots, above the cliffs at Metcalfe, with views of Mill Creek Valley.  Please read the participant guidelines below.

    Snowshoe Hogg's Falls Loops

    Description

    The hike will take in both the Lower and Upper Hogg’s Falls Side Trails and part of the main trail. A beautiful section for a snowshoe with the bonus of viewing Hogg’s Falls in it’s winter mantle.  Please read the participant guidelines below.

    Location (Google Maps): Meet on Sideroad 16C, km 87.9, Map 27, access only from 7th Line. 16C is not a through road from Grey Road 7. Park on the north side of the road near the entrance to the main trail, along the shoulder, facing west for easy exit after the outing.

    Description

    Let’s cross our fingers for a clear moonlit evening.  Headlamps optional, it’s beautiful with only the stars and moon lighting up the white snow. We will snowshoe on both the main trail and the Sligo Side Trail.  There is a nice variety of landscape, from fields, to deciduous woods to evergreen forest. If there is not enough snow, the outing will still proceed, in boots, possibly icers.  Please read the participant guidelines and hike rating system below.

    Location (Google Maps): Meet at 104 Dawson Lane (not on google maps), Blue Mountains – about 4 km south of the Kolapore parking lot on Grey Road 2, go west on Osprey – Blue Mountains Townline, and then immediately turn left onto Dawson Lane.

    We will be skiing through the Kolapore Wilderness Trails, with a “Soup’s On” lunch at the home of the leaders following the outing .  Please bring lunch (sandwich, snack, beverage) and your own dishes/cutlery. A variety of soups will be provided.  Please read the participant guidelines below (and modify them for skiing).
