    Fall Colours Hike Hogg’s Falls

    Description

    We will carpool from Johnston’s Sideroad to Hogg’s Falls parking (63.2) for a hike which will highlight the early fall colours in the valley. Bring a snack and water.

    Participant Guidelines

    1. All kms. mentioned are according to maps in Edition 29 of The Bruce Trail Reference.
    2. Please arrive 10 minutes before start of hike.
    3. Participants are expected to wear appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain. In summer, sturdy footwear is necessary. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate. It is a good idea to bring these items if there is snow on the ground and the hike leader will advise you as to the best footwear for the day. Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    4. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
    5. For spring and summer hikes bring sunscreen, insect repellent and water.
    6. Please leave dogs at home.

    Bruce Trail Day Exploratory Hike at Metcalfe Rock

    Description

    Celebrate Bruce Trail Day with an exploratory hike in the Metcalfe Rock area.  This is an imposing piece of escarpment which you’ll see from below and above.  Watch rock climbers tackle the heights, see the fall colours across the landscape.  There may be an opportunity to do a bit of scrambling yourself if the group feels energetic.

    Description

    The hike will go through the Walters Falls Management Area and we will walk along both sides of the river taking in Walters Falls itself.

    Kolapore Uplands to Metcalfe Rock - extended version

    Description

    This hike will pass the historic Old Mail Road which was used from the 1830’s until the 1850’s.  We then continue until the culmination of the hike at the spectacular Metcalfe Rock, where a bit of scrambling will be optional!

    This is a loop hike using side trails and main trail in Mono Cliffs Provincial Park.  Optional lunch to follow at Mono Cliffs Inn.
