Description
Join us for a lovely hike through Nassagaweya Canyon, a pre-glacial valley created by rivers carving through sedimentary rock on the Niagara Escarpment. We will start around Appleby Line and Steeles Avenue and then venture down into the canyon. We will do a loop around Crawford Lake along the boardwalk and discuss its special properties in science as a meromictic lake. We will then head further down through the Crawford Forestry Tract where our hike will end at Twiss Road.
Required: hiking boots. Please bring 2 L of water.
Drop out at Guelph line at about 10 km. Depending on the weather conditions and participants, we may either end the hike here or continue on to Twiss road.
