    Description

    This is the  tenth and last of our Sydenham Series in 10 hikes.  Registration is required.  The terrain is variable please prepare for  muddy and slippery conditions depending on the weather.  Sturdy boots and hiking poles are recommended.  Please bring adequate water, snacks, lunch and appropriate clothing for the weather. These are all car pool hikes.  Hike today is south bound past Walter’s Falls back to Blantyre.

  • Rattlesnake Point and Crawford Lake

    Location (Google Maps): Iroquoia Section, Map 11. Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area Parking lot, lower level. Entrance fee per person $7, seniors $6. At this date, entrance is self-serve: bring exact amount, allow time to fill form.
    Directions: From Hwy 401 exit 312, take Guelph Line (Rd. 1) north. Very soon, go right (east) on Campbellville Road 3.5 km, right (south) on Appleby Line 5.5 km, right into Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area. Follow park signs to lower-level parking.

    Description

    From Rattlesnake Point we will hike the Rattlesnake Point Side Trail, the BT main trail, the Pine Ridge Trail, and the Crawford Lake Side Trail to the visitors centre at Crawford Lake. We will have a rest/lunch stop here before looping back to Rattlesnake Point via the Nassagaweya Trail.
    Afterwards: refreshment/pub stop.
    There is no dropout point. No dogs please.

  • Frontenac Challenge or Frontenac Trek

    Pace: Brisk – 4 to 5 km/hr
    Terrain: Moderate – Some hills and/or some poor footing
    Distance: There are 11 loops for the Frontenac Challenge ranging from 1.5km – 21km plus access to trail head. 6 loops are required for the Frontenac Trek.

    Description

    For insurance reasons, you must be a member of one of the Bruce Trail Clubs to participate in this event.

    If you’re looking for a challenge that includes up to a week in Frontenac Provincial Park, this is it.

    You can choose one of two different challenges. Both will be scheduled in a way that allows for one or the other depending on what your goal is. Completion of the requirements allows you to apply for the appropriate badge and certificate. Lots of other badges are available, too.

    Accommodation can be reserved at Snug Harbour Resort – Contact Rob 613-374-5412. There are 10 cottages available – our discounted rate is $100 plus tax per night no matter which cottage you choose. http://www.snugharbour.on.ca/dates-and-rates.htm

    Participation will be limited to reservations made. Please let Rob know that you are with the Bruce Trail Group.

    Frontenac Challenge: hike all 11 loops. Check- in on October 23/ Check-out on October 30. All 11 loops will be scheduled.
    Frontenac Trek: hike any six loops (excluding the short Arab Lake Gorge and Doe Lake Loops). Check-in on October 25 at least. You will hike on October 26, 27, 28, 29 and pick 6 loops out of the 7 loops that are scheduled during these days.  Check out on October 30.
