Turn onto Honey Harbor Rd. (Muskoka Rd. 5) for 13km. Turn left (west) into DayTripper parking area. Cost $18.00 for park entry fee, parking, ferry to island, and Park Canada Interpreter.

    Description

    This is one of eleven small hikes to complete the Iroquoia section.

    We will shuttle to Kilbride (km 98.8 Map 10) and hike 11 kms to our cars at Crawford Lake ( km 109.8 on Map 11 ) stopping for lunch at the look out in Crawford Lake.     Description

    Hike through terrain with enough variety to be interesting but not overly challenging. It includes a relatively new section through a recently acquired BTC property. If weather is unfavourable, hike can be shortened. Some road walking. Refreshment/pub stop after.

    Description

    This loop hike takes us along the Bighead River on the historically significant Tout Hollow Trail.  We will pass a number of ruins circa 1860’s – early 1900’s including the sawmill site at which naturalist John Muir worked.  Bring lunch and water.

    Participant Guidelines

    1. All kms. mentioned are according to maps in Edition 29 of The Bruce Trail Reference.
    2. Please arrive 10 minutes before start of hike.
    3. Participants are expected to wear appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain. In summer, sturdy footwear is necessary. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate. It is a good idea to bring these items if there is snow on the ground and the hike leader will advise you as to the best footwear for the day. Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    4. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
    5. For spring and summer hikes bring sunscreen, insect repellent and water.
    6. Please leave dogs at home.

    2nd Line. We will hike to the highest point on the Bruce Trail,

    We will car pool to the end of the hike at Km 172.5 in Wiarton.
    leaving cars we will return to the start of the hike by going north
    on Centre Rd, then take a right onto Colpoys’s Range Rd, parking
    on the road near Km 156.1. From here we will hike along the
    escarpment with good views over Colpoy’s Bay. We then descend through the hamlet of Oxenden and on to the end of our
    hike and the E2E completion in Wiarton. We will go to a location, to be determined to celebrate. Bring water and a lunch.
