    Gentle Hike - Oakville

    Description

    Come Explore the beautiful Sixteen Mile Creek Valley in Oakville. This valley is a jewel in the middle of a busy urban area. The Sixteen Mile Creek winds its way through steep cliffs and woods. We will walk along the upper trails and then down onto the lower trails beside the creek. Some long and gentle hills. Bring a snack, water, insect repellent and sunscreen. Meet in the parking lot, beside the baseball diamonds, on the southeast corner of Neyagawa and River Glen Blvd. (north of Upper Middle Rd. and south of Highway 5). for a 10:00 am. start.

    Directions: Take Centennial Parkway to King Street (Last traffic light before climbing the escarpment). Go East on King Street. Turn immediately right into the driveway for Battlefield Park (Sign at bottom of driveway on King Street). Meet in Parking Lot.

    This maze of Middle Dundas Valley trails will start from the parking lot of the Lion’s Club Outdoor Pool on Jerseyville Rd. in Ancaster. Get there by taking Wilson St. in Ancaster to Fiddler’s Green. Turn right on Fiddler’s and go to the stop sign at Jerseyville Rd. Turn left on Jerseyville and go 1 km to the entrance to the Outdoor Pool on your right. Wear boots and bring water. We’ll do pub stop after.

    Description

    We will carpool to Beautiful Joe Park in Meaford to hike the
    pretty Trout Hollow Trail. It follows the east bank of the Bighead
    River upstream for 5 km to a Sideroad & then we return along
    the west bank. You will walk through woodlands; past historical
    sites including Trout Hollow where John Muir laid low during the
    U.S. Civil War, & view wildlife along the river. It should be a 4 to
    5 hr. walk incl. a lunch break. Bring water and a lunch.

    We will hike from Greensville along Spencer Creek to Christie Lake and return via a similar route. Meet at Park Avenue, Greensville – beside the playground. Park Ave is south of Hwy 8 just 50 metres west of Bullocks Corners. Take Hwy 8 north from Dundas or take Brock Rd south from Hwy 5.

    Climb the steps and walk the streets and trails of West Hamilton. We will hike sections of the Bruce Trail as well as the trails of Iroquoia Heights. There will be weekly walks all summer. Now we are all getting older we are not hiking as fast as we used to. Hike is cancelled if there is heavy rain.

    We will carpool to Duncan parking lot at km 33.9 in the Beaver
    Valley section. This is a loop hike and we will get fine views from
    Pinnacle Rock and Metcalf Rock. We will walk first along the
    main trail and then along the Chuck Grant Side trail, eventually
    returning to the parking lot via the main trail. Bring water and a
    lunch.
