    2 Day Falling Water Badge Hike #1

    Terrain: Moderate, Some rocky footing, Some steep sections, Strenuous
    Length of Hike: 14 km

    Description

    Earn the 2 day Falling Water badge in a weekend!  See badge below.  We’ll travel up and down the length of the Beaver Valley at a medium pace (lots of beautiful views and lots of climbs).  The fall colours should still be good.  Bring lunch and sufficient water.

    Participant Guidelines

    1. All kms. mentioned are according to maps in Edition 29 of The Bruce Trail Reference.
    2. Please arrive 10 minutes before start of hike.
    3. Participants are expected to wear appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain. In summer, sturdy footwear is necessary. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate. It is a good idea to bring these items if there is snow on the ground and the hike leader will advise you as to the best footwear for the day. Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    4. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
    5. For spring and summer hikes bring sunscreen, insect repellent and water.
    6. Please leave dogs at home.

    Mad River Side Trail

    Distance: 12 km

    Description

    We will carpool to the parking lot on 124 at km 30.1. We will descend to the valley at the base of the ski hill then follow the white trail up the other side of the valley to km 24.5. At this point we will join the Ganaraska Trail and follow it to Glen Huron then join the Mad River Side Trail back to Km 29.1. finally we will climb the hill again, back to our cars.
    This is a hilly hike, bring lots of water and a lunch.

    Oakville Historic Walk

    Description

    This approximately 6 Km. hike will take you along the top and down to the inner banks of the Sixteen Mile Creek Valley in Oakville. You will learn about the importance of rivers and creeks in the development of early Oakville and how they contributed to light industry in the early years. You will walk the old roads which led down into and up out of the Valley and about the early settlements which existed. Join Anne Armstrong to learn a little of the history of this area.

    Bring water and a snack. Optional refreshments after the hike.

    Description

    To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles’ Abbey Road, a host of Hamilton musicians will perform the album live with proceeds going to the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

    Licensed event (cash bar) with craft beer, wine, coffee, and tea available. There will also be a selection of excellent silent auction items.

    Time: Doors open at 7pm, and the concert starts at 8pm.

    Location: The Rock on Locke, Church of St John the Evangelist, 320 Charlton Ave West, Hamilton

    Tickets: $25 + fees … sold online at https://www.bruha.com/event/5009

    All proceeds will go to the Bruce Trail Conservancy to help in its mission of preserving a ribbon of wilderness, for everyone, forever. The Bruce Trail Conservancy is a charitable organization dedicated to establishing a conservation corridor containing a public footpath along the Niagara Escarpment.
