Description

Join us for a late Fall walk in the Dufferin Hi-Lands from Primrose to just east of Whitfield on the Prince of Wales Side Trail, the Primrose Loop Side Trail, the Boyne Valley Side Trail and parts of the Main Trail.  Please bring hiking boots, 2L of water, sunscreen and lunch.  Please arrive early at 8:45 am so that we can all sign in before heading off at 9 sharp.  Pre-registration at stuarthikes@gmail.com required.

Description

The Halton Agreement Forest is an area riddled with bicycle trails and some fine hiking trails. The challenge is to sort them out! Join us for an easy walk in this popular area. The parking lot for the entrance to this part of the forest is on the east side of Guelph Line, north of the 401 and across from the Mohawk/Woodbine Raceway and Casino. The Gap Side Trail to the Lindenwood Loop

Meet at the Gatehouse Museum parking lot. Enter from Sulphur Springs Rd., just east of its’ junction with Mineral Springs Rd. Directions: From Clappison’s Corners, intersection of Hwy 5 and 6, travel west on Hwy 5. Turn left onto Brock Rd. At Bullocks Corners turn right onto Hwy 8. Turn left onto Weirs Line, turn left onto Governors Rd., turn right onto Sulphur Springs Rd. In approximatelt 3 km, at the T intersection turn left onto Mineral Springs Rd. Parking lot immediately on the left.

Looping through Dundas Valley Conservation area using the Headwaters Trail and part of the Bruce Trail. Along the way, we will pass the historic Griffin House, rolling hills, forests. meadows, deeply cut valleys and sparkling streams.

Credit Valley Footpath

Description

We will carpool to where the main trail crosses Sideroad 7B (km 41.7).  We will hike down 7B and through Kimberley (get ice cream if weather calls for it) and then climb up to Old Baldy and south on the main trail back to Ed’s house.

Participant Guidelines

1. All kms. mentioned are according to maps in Edition 29 of The Bruce Trail Reference.
2. Please arrive 10 minutes before start of hike.
3. Participants are expected to wear appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain. In summer, sturdy footwear is necessary. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate. It is a good idea to bring these items if there is snow on the ground and the hike leader will advise you as to the best footwear for the day. Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
4. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
5. For spring and summer hikes bring sunscreen, insect repellent and water.
6. Please leave dogs at home.

Rattle Snake Pt Conservation Area to Twiss Rd

From Rattlesnake Pt. CA we will follow conservation side trails and main BT along the escarpment and descend/ascend Nassagaweya Canyon into Crawford Lake CA. From there we will wind our way through the CA and on to the calcium pits at Twiss Rd.

Description

Learn about the unique formations of a karst on this walk lead by guest Rita Guilietti, member of the Friends of Eramosa Karst (FOTEK).  We’ll also learn about the history of this newer preserve which is part of the Hamilton Conservation Authority.  Parking fee in effect if not an HCA member. Please arrive at 8:45 to sign up so we can start hike at 9:00. Bring water and a snack.
